Joe Acton
Born and raised in Alaska, Joe Acton grew up on hockey and plowing snow, endured the 9.2 Good Friday earthquake, pulled a hitch in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua, and returned to Anchorage for a law enforcement career.
Several years later, relocating to the Seattle area with childhood sweetheart, Ann, and their new daughter, Erica, Joe went on to attend law school and practice law. In the mid-80s, with their combined business interests and Joe's extensive legal background, the Actons founded VersusLaw, Inc., a legal research company, in which they maintain ownership.
Through it all, Joe continues to hold a commercial pilot's license and, when he's grounded, to write with a passion. His writing credits include newspaper humor columnist, book author, and several screenplays. Courage Doesn't Ask, his latest project as writer-director, screened extensively at film festivals in the U.S. and abroad in 2007, garnering several awards. Joe is also honored to have two of his screenplays, Channel 79 and Married Seeking Same, win first and third place at the 2007 Toronto ReelHeART International Film Festival. Married also won the screenplay competition at the 2007 Big Bear Lake Film Festival (California).
